I read the other day where GI's were told to change into mufti on their flights home so they wouldn't be attacked in the airports. Were any US veterans treated worse at the end of a war?
And do you believe Vietnam veterans did worse in country than veterans of other wars?
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
We were treated badly primarily by cowards/draft dodgers......but we are now extracting compensation......and they can delay their retirements and work three jobs to keep the benefits up and growing. Revenge on a cold platter.
NOW, I have just completed a great book "The Insurgents" by Fred Kaplan (PhD MIT) addressing the conversion of the US Army from a "meat grinder" strategy used in WWII to an approach of using counterinsurgency to fight irregular wars.....Viet Nam was such a war. Our Generals failed to conduct the war using CI strategies (old schools die hard) and the Commies (CHICOM and Soviets) fed the insurgency with the men and materials to fight this proxy war. BUT the Congress cut off funds and we departed....and immediately 2-4 million sould died by the Socialist butchers sword. In the longer run Viet Nam was the Cold War turned hot......we won the Cold War hands down and thus a defeat for Central Socialist dictators. At home , currently the struggle between evil Socialist dictators and the founders continues. BTW every youngster that obtains a drivers license is now registered for the draft......male and female.....brave new world.

Gee, I read the other day that the whole fantasy about changing on flights home "so they wouldn't be attacked in airports" is an outright, (usual), right-wing lie....
Was not aware of the flights issue.....was definitely told to not wear a uniform in public.....and saw the cowards demo as long as they were in jepordy.....all the whining stopped once the little cowards did not have to serve......at that time. Now they have to pay for protection because they and their kids as a group still are cowards........pay they are and a lot more in the future.....no free freedom.

I don't know that "changing on flights home" is necessarily a "right wing lie". I was never told that by anybody. After I returned I went back to college and never had any issues what so ever. I never hid the fact that I was a former Marine, and Vietnam veteran. I also didn't wear my fatigues or field jacket around every day.
