Lane Rees, Florida GOP Committeeman, Arrested On Child Pornography Charges[/b]
Lane Rees, a 61-year-old GOP committeeman for Walton County, Fla., was arrested Monday night for possession and transmission of child pornography, according to a Northwest Florida Daily News report, since confirmed by other Florida outlets.
Police reportedly searched Rees' house after conducting a month-long investigation that began when authorities received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in February about child pornography being traded by an online profile at his address.
Walton County Sheriff Mike Adkinson told the Daily News on Monday that police had found "pretty significant images" matching the tip they'd received.
Rees has served as a GOP committeeman since 2008, but has held more powerful positions in local Republican politics in the past. His wife, Brenda, currently serves as Walton County’s elected state committeewoman.
According to his website, Rees was named Walton's "Man of the Year" in 2011 and has been active in the Evangelical community.

Court shocker: 10 months for kiddie porn producer

A Democrat community leader who would "offer a homily during worship services" and facilitated his congregation's "opening our doors to all people regardless of sexual orientation" has been given a slap on the hand after pleading guilty to extensive child pornography offenses involving children as young as six.
Authorities say Andrew Douglas Reed, 53, who reported for an abbreviated jail term just a few weeks ago, had pleaded guilty to a page-long list of counts of 2nd-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Court records in the Asheville, N.C., case said he admitted that he would "record, develop and duplicate material containing a visual representation of a minor engaging in sexual activity." That activity is defined by state law as including masturbation, intercourse and "touching – in apparent sexual stimulation or sexual abuse – of the genitals, pubic area or buttocks."
However, instead of the 967 months in jail – nearly 81 years – for which he was liable, Judge Robert Lewis, another Democrat, gave him, in a plea bargain with the office of District Attorney Ron Moore, who was elected as a Democrat, a 10-12 month sentence.
"It has been my pleasure to share Andy's commitment to ensuring that compassion and democracy are at work across our community," wrote Beth Lazer, a Democrat who shared Unitarian Universalist church theologies with Reed and serves as the head of the local public access television, URTV.
RE: Rep. Gerry Studds is actually hailed as, "a congressional pioneer," for having sex with a congressional page. What a difference, eh?

QUEENS — Prominent Queens politicians Malcolm Smith and Dan Halloran were arrested early Tuesday for attempting to manipulate this year's mayoral election, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
At the conclusion of an extensive undercover corruption investigation, four others were arrested along with the Queens pair, including two Republican party officials and the mayor of Spring Valley, N.Y., the Department of Justice said.
“Public service is not supposed to be a shortcut to self-enrichment," FBI Assistant Director George Venizelos said in a statement. "At the very least, public officials should obey the law. As alleged, these defendants did not obey the law; they broke the law and the public trust. There is a price to pay for that kind of betrayal.”
The pair allegedly formed an alliance to place Smith, a Democrat who represents Queens Village, St. Albans and Jamaica, onto the Republican mayoral ballot by enlisting the support of major GOP leaders through bribes, according to the Post and officials.
