I think North Korea dwarfs Iran in terms of magnitude of threat.
The imperative now is to face down Mr Kim. After all, he has ruled out the only promise worth having (suspending his nuclear programme again). North Korea—and other rogue regimes and would-be nuclear proliferators, such as Iran—need to know that actions have consequences. That is why President Park Geun-hye of South Korea, in turn, was right to make it clear that sneak attacks will be met with a much firmer response than in 2010. America is right to move missile defences to Guam. When it sent two nuclear-capable B-2 bombers to fly over the peninsula it was a warning not only to North Korea, but also a gesture of support to the South. If Ms Park doubts American backing, she will be tempted to seek nuclear weapons herself.
Think the US will just pay him off again so Kim and the West can both claim victory? And our little bully will be back in three more years. It is probably cheaper to give NORK money rather than move more assets to the region.

I think there's a good possibility that this kid has been given a line of exaggerated BS from his military, making him believe he is some sort of superpower that should demand respect.

In reading his Bio,several things came to the forefront........His Birthday Jan.8th makes him 30 or 31 (depending upon birthyear that
is used) THINK BACK.....the early 30's are a time of discovery,change,learning curves of life. His Bio indicates he is degreed in physics
from TWO universities AND that his BROTHER was in line for the position he now has. Seems to me there is a LARGE backstory to
what we are witnessing......a rite of passage AND family "in fighting".......as I said before, NEVER underestimate someone who is
attempting to "prove" power......jmo
Much caution here.....Asian males are VERY sensitive to image and honor.....Koreans included. This "kid" was raised in a Communist prison with little access to the remainder of the world. He has reportedly ONE MILLION troops, nuclear weapons and funding from Communist China. China is under the boot of the RED ARMY......we (USA) have reportedly 30,000 troops in South Korea and a Naval presence well established in the Western Pacific......including a sea based ABM asset. Time is on NKs side.......we are so weakned by our entitlement society and the oil tit of the Middle East we can ill afford another war in Korea......the CHICOMS are well aware. IF not now someday the Communists in North Korea supplied by China will attack US interests. The real scary outcome IMHO is a missile making it to Honolulu with a nuclear tip......this is a real possibility. China has the smaller nuclear warheads and easily can pass them to North Korea.......after the explosion it is most difficult to tell the origion of the warhead. Korea then would of course be destroyed but maybe they really do not care........death before dishonor.
CG.....any ally of North Korea with nuclear weapons(CHICOMS)........pass them in crisis to North Korea. Any ally of South Korea with nuclear weapons (USA) pass to South Korea.......simple. Korea is a proxy war and still not ended just as Viet Nam was a proxy war (and the real adversaries remain the same). The greening of boomers and their kids is near.

"Little access to the remainder of the world"..........just curious,then HOW does Dennis Rodman's 'visit" to the "kid" play out? I find it
incongruous,but plausible,that the visit COULD impact his view and perhaps,his actions?
