Mark my words: if we cannot make our communities safer with the Congress we have now, we will use every means available to make sure we have a different Congress, one that puts communities’ interests ahead of the gun lobby’s. To do nothing while others are in danger is not the American way.
I just don't think a strong enough argument has been made that this bill would make our streets any safer. It is already illegal to buy a gun if you are mentally ill. It is illegal to buy a gun for someone who can't legally purchase one. In Colorado at least, you can't legally buy a gun at a gun show without a background check.
It is just trying to pile on more laws that are already in place.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
Gun laws won't make us safer. As Fred said, enforce the ones we have now. Places like Chicago have very strict gun laws, and they have they equivalent of a sandy hook every month-in # of children killed, yet this is never mentioned.
The "gun lobby" is American citizens who have chosen to support the NRA. Unlike other lobbyist groups that are big corporations or unions who have no choice.
Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!
