Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) revealed that some members of his party opposed expanding background checks for gun sales recently because they didn't want to "be seen helping the president."
Two weeks ago, only three Republican senators voted for the bipartisan background checks amendment sponsored by Toomey and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), despite overwhelming popular support for such a measure.
"In the end it didn’t pass because we're so politicized. There were some on my side who did not want to be seen helping the president do something he wanted to get done, just because the president wanted to do it,” Toomey admitted on Tuesday in an interview with Digital First Media editors in the offices of the Times Herald newspaper in Norristown, Pa.
Wow...Imagine my surprise.... Yes, it's always important to make it about politics and polarization than what's good for the country----if you're a GOTP'er.
Once again, you can't confine yourself to the original post... This isn't about the red-state Dems...
This article is about GOPers Opposed Background Checks Because They Hate Obama
Looks pretty much like this just reinforces the fact that Republicans are just toadies of the NRA, and their intrinsic hatred of Obama. Those aren't mutually-exclusive positions.
What is this really about? Pat Toomey is catching a lot of flack for his bipartisan background measure, from the NRA, Pennsylvania voters, and other Republicans for not toeing the party line, so he is lashing out.
Maybe he will get primaried next time.

I read the entire Huff-n-Puff "article" (you forgot to attribute the content by the by) and nowhere in it did I see anything about anyone "hating" Obama. Spinning yourself much these days?

Since none of the bills had anything to do with unconstitutional violations of the Second Amendment, that dog won't hunt...
Would you like to point out to me where the Constitution delegates to Congress the authority to regulate commerce between two people who are citizens of the same State? That would be intrastate commerce as opposed to interstate commerce, wouldn't it?

Didn't you get the memo PS? Disagreeing with Obama equals hating Obama and you are also a racist. I heard it on MSNBC so it must be true.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
I disagree with a lot of what Obama has done, and not done. Well crap.
