Save American lives? You can impersonally bomb with missiles and B-52's too.

I worry some that dropping bombs is getting a little too easy.

In my romantic mind, part of warfare is seeing just how ugly things get, and deciding when "enough is enough."

Completely understand - drones save (American) lives......

I don't like the idea that killing our adversaries is turning into a video game.

It's not a game for them.

Understand but I think war is actually moving more to less human interaction.

Good point. It is horribly very hands on to them. And you have to wonder about how the intelligence is gathered. Don't like the next village over? Just tell the suspected CIA operative that Al Quiada is building bombs there
