The IRS should be an independent agency....but it is nearly impossible to take the political beliefs out of any organization that employs human beings, be it a corporation or a government entity.
What is intimidation tactics to one person is due diligence to another.

According to the TIGTA (U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration) report... the actions of the IRSS toward multiple numbers of conservative groups was...
The IRS used inappropriate criteria that identified for review Tea Party and other organizations applying for tax‑exempt status based upon their names or policy positions instead of indications of potential political campaign intervention. Ineffective management: 1) allowed inappropriate criteria to be developed and stay in place for more than 18 months, 2) resulted in substantial delays in processing certain applications, and 3) allowed unnecessary information requests to be issued.
Accord to you... that was "due diligence." How can you (or anyone) make that statement with any authority when a whole legal team from the Treasury Department deemed otherwise?
Blurry eyes this morning TLGOPT? I did not say that I thought this was due diligence by the IRS.. I was pointing out that people in an organization will have different views of the actions they take based on their political beliefs, what one employee sees as due diligence another may see as intimidation.....

Good point... but now that we have the TIGTA report... we know that the action was targeted intimidation toward conservative groups. That's bible now.
Yet another example of conservative lies. Those "157 visits" to the White House. It turns out those were times that Shulman was cleared to visit the White House. He only actually visited the White House 11 times. Yep, that is right. He was "CLEARED" to visit 157 times, yet only ACTUALLY VISITED 11 times. And one of those was for a Hannukeh dinner. The other 10 times? There is the little something known as ObamaCares that the IRS plays a role in. He met with the director of Health Care Reform in the Old Executive Office Building and other other deputies charged with the implementation of ObamaCares.
And you wonder why Republicans have gotten their well deserved reputation for being liars?

Cleared to visit means that he was on a standing list of individuals who might attend a routine meeting in the White House, the Old Executive Office Building, the New Executive Office Building, etc. Since there were biweekly meetings between employees of the IRS and the deputies in charge of the implementation of the Affordable Health Care Act (ObamaCares), Shulman was on the standing list of possible attendees. The records of the actual visits showed that Shulman only attended meetings at either the White House, Old Executive Office Building or the New Executive Office Building 11 times over the last 6 years since he was appointed by Bush.
So this is yet another example of conservative lies. What can we learn from this latest "outrage"? That if it comes from a Republican source, it is most likely a lie.
