Being First Lady Is Like Being In A Really Nice Prison

Michele Obama.

Twitter response? Incorrect, you can visit people in prison but White house tours are still cancelled.

Except prisoners don't campaign for 6 years to get in and stay in "prison". Cry me a river Mrs. O.

(There's no link to a source so I'm just posting on the assumption that this is true.)

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

While not a hardship in any true sense of the word, I imagine it is very restrictive, although better than it was in the past with the ridiculous stereotypical behaviors women were expected to conduct themselves of. Anyone here ever read any of the First Lady's bios? Just curious...

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

It's real:

Seems Michelle and Lady Bush II were sharing a moment and lamenting a loss of freedom while living in the lap of luxury.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian." - Henry Ford

Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus

I've always felt for the first ladies. You are constrained by your husbands job. Every move you make, every outfit you wear, every thing you say is scrutinized. You and your children are attacked by those who oppose your husband, and through it all you must remain congenial and ladylike. All of them have done it well, and all of them have my admiration.

I know I wouldn't want to be President or First Lady. Too much loss of freedom and privacy. No amount of travel or perks would make up for that. Oh wait, I don't have privacy anymore either. Thanks Patriot Act overreach!

Yes, I've read several books written about Jacqueline Kennedy and one about John Jr....even after the assassination, her life and her children's lives were scrutinized heavily and until her kids were of age, they had secret service agents assigned to them.

I've also read a book about Mary Todd Lincoln, though not a bio...again, she was scrutinized heavily as she was born southern and couldn't show any emotion when family members attached to the South were killed in the Civil War...nor could she show any emotion about the North either. And one of her sons died while Lincoln was in office...again, she had to keep her emotions private.

Wait the Obama admin. restricting freedom? I don't get it.

Come on, we all know that it is no fun to be in that position. Likely the only one that feels more trapped is the pres himself.

I would bet dollars to doughnuts that he did not even want to be president again, but the pissing match among males does not end just because you are sick of pissing, it ends when the other guy stops pissing. Then the winner is just stuck with a puddle, or presidency.

Reports are coming out that Romney wanted to quite way before he lost. I bet they all feel this way. This is just like CEOs buying bigger jets. The biggest jet you can buy is the presidency of the US.
