Obama is an extremely politically savy politician. The damage from Obamacare in 2014 would have killed the dems. As a businessman though, I'm thrilled. Nobody I know had any idea how to comply...even though it is 6 months away.
Regardless of his reasoning, delaying a horrible bill is a great idea!
Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!
Since 110% of the cost of the ACA will be borne by the employees in the long run...I would say they are the half winners of this.
Only half because all this means is that everyone will spend more time in purgatory, we know it is coming, so it is not like we are going to spend another year partying like it is not going to happen.
I currently hire for less than I used to, have frozen wages and stopped bonus payments until after all this hoopla has been settled. I do make some rare exceptions for rare individuals, but otherwise I am sure I am not unique. Business cannot just pay like their finances are not about to be turned on their head. The only flexible costs most businesses have are the employees. The will suffer or benefit from any change in climate.
Employees pay for all of this and in fact, they already are.
The coolest part is what is coming. Once general wages go down (unless you are in health care) the average person will be able to buy less, so demand will go down and thus so will prices. This will reduce employment and or wages even more as companies sell less or sell for less, which will cause demand to do down and thus so will prices. This will reduce employment and or wages even more as companies sell less or sell for less, which will cause demand to do down and thus so will prices. All prices are relative to the dollar, so prices can go up, while the proportional cost to you go down (same with wages), And so on.
We have made a decision, the money was being spent wrong, it should have been spent on health care. Now that it will by law, in a year or whenever it is scheduled, every other sector and person involved with such will have to pay and give up a proportional amount of something else. That is everyone on average being poorer, so that they can have the proven effects of the health insurance they will buy.
This law is really going to suck for poor employed or unemployed people and a one year delay on making established businesses that much more secure using these regs really is not going to change the fact that we all know it is coming and we are stuck simply waiting, not being liberal with pay.
Keep in mind, one more year to get your house in order before the economic roller coaster that is going to result. This is best for the <$100,000 a year folks that are going to be riding that coaster and financing this hoopla (likely to be called the second Great Depression or the demise of representative democracy or something similar).
Turn your head and cough, while I take your wallet.
Well isn't that convenient. Reminds me of all the times I've listened to Obama talking about how if you like your healthcare plan or your doctor you can keep them... BUT, how many times have YOU heard him even mention the mandate?
This is ripe for an advertising blitz on low info channels like MTV and Comedy Central by the GOP that explains how "free" this trianwreck will be. And where are all the waivers for the individual? Why is he helping out businesses? Could it be that this administion understands what will happen to the tiny recovery when businesses stop hiring and downsize more due to the ACA burden? This is just a morphine injection (but a smart move to help Dems get reelected).
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
The longer they delay implementing it, the longer we have to figure something out that will actually work. If Congress would get off their dead donkeys, that is.

I agree there is a way to make a better bill, but remaking THIS bill into something good would be like trying to turn a Pinto into a Porsche. The Dems need to be held accountable for the consequences of the disaster they created.
