...hilarious!

Don't mind the language, it helps the kids remember it better.

Wonderfully done. Although I am not sure what you mean "it helps the kids remember?" It would be very helpful if it was part of some high school curriculum... but I sorely doubt that any public school I know of would consider this politically correct enough to pass muster. I imagine if a parent knows/knew about this link, they could email it/twitter it/facebook it to their high school aged children.

I would love to see someone over there create one of these narratives for the years 1945 to about 1950 or so. For the public schools that do teach a comprehensive look at WWII, I wonder how well they cover the aftermath of the war and how it shaped the world to come. My step-daughter, who took mainly accelerated courses in almost every class has little understanding of the way the war changed the geopolitical landscape after the war.

And it's not due to any lack of support here at home. Their deceased father was a world conflict fanatic. The family had over 150 war based board games which they played incessantly, including ones dealing with WWII and the geopolitical outcomes of that war. And in our library there are over 300 books dealing with that war alone. But from what I gather the step-daughter did not get much education about those after war years from her high school classes.

But that cod Facebook message thread should be passed on to any and all high school aged kids. That's a keeper.

Kids get a kick out of foul language and if they were taught this handy FB guide, they'd be more likely to remember because it was funny (and "forbidden").

When I was in high school, we stopped at WWII - it was the end of the year. As you say, there is much that shaped our current world today that happened between now and then and needs to be covered. Whether as a "history" course, or as a civics lesson, I don't care, but too much of history is sterile 'facts' and not enough of the political, religious, ethnic, and personal backstory/reasons and outcomes that would make it so much more interesting.
