So you are suggesting the solution to the Nanny State is to hire a bunch of Nannies....when I see 65+ year olds working at big box stores, they seem less happy and more trapped, as they realize that the Nanny state has already failed them...as did their own planning. All they are left with is low wage work at Wal-Mart...mostly by the design of massive govt intervention and favoritism towards China vs. our own people.
I still don't think this is going to make either the LJ's of the world or the fired employees happy...especially the ones that are compelled to hurt those that took their jobs...now they have to hurt old people, way easier to hurt young people.
I just thought people would find the story interesting. I think the US needs to move to a government healthcare system like Western Europe. Why should employers be the main source of health care? Wouldn't it be cheaper for business to hire people if they already came with healthcare?

“People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.”
Someone needs to carve those words onto a wall in the D.C. Council legislative chamber.
Last week, the Council approved a measure that would require Walmart and other large retailers doing business in the District to pay a “living wage” of $12.50 per hour.
But… uh oh. Hypocrisy alert.
District government pays less than $12.50 per hour.
According to the D.C. Department of Human Resources, some full-time school maintenance workers and custodians make $11.75 per hour. The rate for a clerk at the University of the District of Columbia is $10.40.
Council members went to great lengths to criticize Walmart's pay scale. They should have taken care of their own business first.

Health exchanges will hurt the unemployment rate? Yahoo had this article today, 4.2 million people are expected to quit their jobs once they can buy healthcare at a decent price at exchanges. Anyone consider subsidized health care and access to a lower cost insurance pool one of the main benefits to working?
Europe has higher unemployment rates and access to socialized medicine, connection?
