"This is a city that's been to heck and back," Obama said. "And while there are still a lot of challenges here, I see a city that's coming back."
"We said American workers could manufacture the best products in the world. So we invested in high-tech manufacturing and we invested in clean energy," he said. "And right now, there's an advanced-battery industry taking root here in Michigan that barely existed before."
"We're teaming up with everybody—mayors, local officials, you name it—boosting economic development, rebuilding your communities the best way," Obama said. "This is a city where the great American industry has come back to life and the industries of tomorrow are taking root."
Excerpts of a speech by President Obama on Labor Day 2011 in Detroit.
Something to think about on this day that President Obama "pivots" back to economics in a speech at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill. If Obama had a hometown... it would look like Detroit.
Detroit, liberal paradise, run by liberals, and rundown by liberals.
Can't blame the Republicans for Motor city can you? They haven't had power there for decades.
Meanwhile, the Republican suburb of Grosse Point is doing fine behind their wall. On Google maps, it looks like the difference between East and West Berlin. Well kept lawns versus burned out homes and grown over lawns.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
How many more failures will it take for the sheep to wake up? Barry is telling outright lies and he continues lying but no one in the MSM is calling him on it and the zombies continue to fall in line right behind Barry because they continue to believe that he can do no wrong while the communities they live in are crumbling around them.
Modern day Detroit = textbook example of how well Socialism and Liberalism work in real life. If there are more takers than makers eventually the takers run out of other peoples money. The sad part is that over the decades the citizens of Detroit failed to understand that they couldn't just keep on taxing and spending, productive members of society voted with their feet and the takers were left behind with no one left to take from except each other.
Sad but also a self inflicted fatal wound, kind of like having lung cancer after decades of smoking but continuing to smoke anyhow.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus
