I never thought of the foothills as predominantly conservative till I joined 285Bound, it has always seemed pretty evenly divided, if even leaning a bit liberal. Or maybe that is just here in Evergreen.
I don't really have a problem with the board leaning conservative, except when a bully mentality takes over.

Yes, but we tend to get lumped in with the knuckle dragging r's by liberals.
Yep, there is a lot of "lumping in" going on here.......it's kinda like a liberal here being accused of supporting some sleazy democrat in another state, even if it is made perfectly clear they don't.

The bolded is what I object to.....debate does NOT require strong arming the opposition, a
HEALTHY exchange of ideas is ALWAYS welcome (knowing full well that changing someones'
mindset is NOT going to be the outcome)....JMO

Speaking as an INDY......I generally do NOT get sucked into the r's and d's debacle....(it's
counter-productive and NOT enjoyable.) The bullying/disrespect gets real old, REAL fast and
I tend to disengage quickly.
Otis, did you not realize that the first reply in this thread addressed to Blazer Bob was by Blondie, not archer? Archer's only comment was "To serve their country?" In answer of why men would go to war, and I think that's something you would agree with. I think there's just been a case of mistaken transference of whom to address here is all.
On Blazer Bob's pics: I don't care what anyone helping protect me is wearing, so long as they are proficient. One of the most memorable scenes in my favorite Stephen King series, The Dark Tower, has one of the heroes naked in a gun fight. When it was all over and they win, his mentor, The Gunslinger, tells him proudly that it takes special strength to fight while completely un-armored and exposed. I don't know why that scene stuck with me, other than as a metaphor for sometimes we have to fight when unprepared to do so but that doesn't mean we use ill-preparedness as an excuse to run or half-ass it.
One of my other favorite book series, Red Sonja (gorgeous cover art if you can find the originals), depicts our heroine running around in a gold chain mail bikini. Reading it when much younger, I just figured that she was so bad-ass good that she didn't NEED better armor.
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

Really? You dont care what those protecting you are wearing? First imagine your daughter's face imposed on this picture
Still don't care? I do care, this is not a Stephen King, or other fictional setting. War is not Art. However there is the Art of War. If women are choosing to go into combat, and allowed to do so, they may well face what Otis has described. They also will most likely face the chauvinism, sexist, and disrespectful attitude from those like Blazer Bob. His TSAC sig line is amusing.

Airplane: Bobby, do you like gladiator movies?
Maybe US troops in the heat of Iraq need to consider less clothes? Just a loincloth and combat sandals.

Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
So-o-o, they are re-running "G.I.Jane" with Demi Moore as the female attempting to break into
the male dominated arena of war......(understanding it's "hollywood),I STILL think she did a
good job of acting and portraying what a female would go thru.......EARNING THE RESPECT of
her fellow team members (ALL male) and proving she was a good soldier and team member.....
(quote from movie......"kiss my dick" was the seal of approval.....after taking a VICIOUS ass
kicking/slug fest by her superior.
I would imagine SOME of the issues portrayed in this movie are EXACTLY what a female should/
could expect.....JMO
