"Cross-posted from Asia Times Online

The giant sucking sound you here, I said on August 15 on CNBC’sThe Kudlow Report, is the implosion of America’s influence in the Middle East. Vladimir Putin’s August 17 offer of Russian military assistance to the Egyptian army after US President Barack Obama cancelled joint exercises with the Egyptians denotes a post-Cold-War low point in America’s standing. Along with Russia, Saudi Arabia and China are collaborating to contain the damage left by American blundering. They have being doing this quietly for more than a year."...

I just saw a tweet last night that Obama is now cutting military aid to Egypt. Where is the administration standing on the coup and the Muslim brotherhood. Another tweet, Mubarak may walk.

How could the war hawks NOT love this? The Egyptian military is killing the Muslim Brotherhood with the weapons and bullets that WE sold them.
The US military industrial machine is making money by churning out the goods and no US soldiers are in the line of fire.

Who are these "war hawks" you speak of?

"A war hawk, or simply hawk for short, is a term used in politics for someone favoring war in a debate over whether to go to war, or whether to continue or escalate an existing war. War hawks are the opposite of war doves. The terms are derived through analogy with the birds of the same name: hawks are predators which attack and feed on other animals, whereas doves mostly eat seeds and fruit, and are historically a symbol of peace."

Perhaps you are referring to munition salesmen? In a 66 billion $ market Egypt is not a big fish. (no pun intended).

Anyone else think Kerry is in over his head here?

The other day, John had a press conference about Midwest peace and no notable Palestinians or Israelis bothered attending.

Ah, the war hawks of Saudi Arabia.

"NATURE ABHORS A VACUUM
Yesterday, Saudi Arabia promised to compensate Egypt for every bit of aid that the U.S. or other Western countries might withdraw in the response to the Egyptian military’s crackdown against its Muslim Brotherhood opponents."

Good post. Saudi Arabia is really worried about the Muslim Brotherhood overthrowing the monarchy.

CLINTON obama Foreing Policy blowback......very simple. America should get off the oil tit and out of the malls.....Putin ( a very worthy adversary and KGB Officer) will win BIG......and control the price of oil in the West. Russia has few social problems and oceans of oil.....sorta like the American Civil War (Yankees won war.....Confererates won reconstruction - thus the implosion of the Rust Belt).

Predicitions by my oil patch buddies is oil will hit $200 a barrel in five years and gas for sheep will be at least $7.00/gal.......thanks to Sheep in Charge CLINTON.

AGAIN, Confessions of an Economic Hitman by John Perkins will reveal COVERT deals (by the
United States) involving the countries you are posting about.....THIS issue does NOT sit
squarely on Clinton's shoulders.....DO THE RESEARCH.......it involves R's and D's POTUS thru
DECADES of shady, questionable transactions......transactions that are NOW coming back to
haunt us in the most hideous ways......DO THE RESEARCH.....NOT jmo.
