I am confused, as long as a pet has found a home with a loving family, isn't that a good thing? Does it matter where it came from?
I usually got my pets after finding them abandoned on the street, I am kind of a softie and can't let them go after taking them in. I'm just happy that their new pet had a temporary home before going to a permanent home. I will bet the girls are excited!
When you are President and a role model, it does matter. Do you think if the Obama family had picked out a rescue pet, it would inspire other Americans to do the same?
And do you think the White House supporting a breeder sends out the worng message?
I had a pet trainer tell me it is a very fine line between breeders and puppy mills.

Can we just put all this crap to rest about the breed of dog vs a shelter dog?
Malia Obama's allergies dictated a need for a hypoallergenic breed. There are only a few breeds that are hypoallergenic. This is one of them. This has been known and reported.
Frankly, I have no idea, Fred. I'd never even heard of them until this one showed up at the White House.
I'm guessing if there is actually one, it's not at the shelter anywhere near Washington D.C. So then what? You'd have the president do, fly the first family out to meet the dog and then fly them all back? Then you'd been whining about that. You will never be satisfied with anything the president does. (Here's where you pop off with "I'd be satisifed if he resigned" spiffy comback).
