LOS ANGELES — The AFL-CIO on Monday opened the door to becoming a group that is more representative of the left than of its members.
Facing what AFL-CIO chief Richard Trumka called a “crisis” of membership, officials took the dramatic step at their annual convention of adopting a resolution that invites anyone in the country to join, regardless of union affiliation.
The move faced stiff resistance from union officials who fear the AFL-CIO’s primary mission of representing workers will be left behind if the federation becomes a mouthpiece for liberal and progressive groups.
Despite the resistance, the resolution was adopted without a single “nay” vote being heard in the convention hall.

I guess the AFL/CIO has dropped all pretense of being an advocate for the workers.

I'll bet this costs the AFL/CIO in terms of losing skilled workers. I know many skilled union workers who belong to a union for the protection, benefits, or pressure, yet despise the support the union leaders give the left. This will only add to the exodus.

Like when the AFL-CIO advocates illegal alien amnesty programs kowtowing to its DNC puppetmasters?
DNC: We know adding millions of legal non-union low cost workers to compete with you for jobs doesn't make economic sense, but go with it.

Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.

lol ...don't you think people spending 40 hours a week, 48 weeks a year working know when or when they are not being represented properly? It's just their entire lives, that all

You don't get it do you? Unions only stay on the property if the members want them to..Its really easy to get rid of your Union if you aren't happy with it...

Ha ha ha ha ha ha..Why would any Union member want or expect their union to give money to the people that are trying to kill the union!? Kill their only voice and take what little power they have in their workplace? You just don't get it Grady. Its easy not to understand what your talking about when youre just repeating what you've been told I guess, huh?
