Did you ever notice how our media would rather show us TV people commenting on a speech rather than show us the actual speech itself? Even when it's the president of our country? How many times have you heard a Hugo Chavez speech... zero -but we've all heard our media explain his speeches (or in their opinion, insane ramblings) to us in such twisted slanted terms than anyone would walk away thinking he was evil...
Yeah he took a country where 12 guys had ALL the money, while tens of millions lived in mud huts to a country where 12 guys had 98% of all the money, the masses stll lived in mud huts but they now get a little education and healthcare...Ohhhh The horror! He's a communist!
We have gross enequities in this country but we are still much farther to the left than Venzuela Rick.. They don't have Social Security, Medicare, Food Stamps, schools, or unemployment insurance, they don't even have employment..It was a dog eat dog capitalist country when Chavez was alive.. Our reactions to 9-11 have been some of the most damaging actions in this country to date. This does not disrespect those that died or have fought. They were disrespected even more by our leaders bumbling attempts at revenge that have backfired. Peace is not the goal for those that make their living on international conflicts and be sure those you elected make their living off of these conflicts. The incentives for behavior are not where most people want them, but be sure the marketing works. They want war, most importantly they want war that makes them look good and makes people donate lots of money that they get to spend to make their lives better. If you hear the word legacy, you know you are not the priority, just every once and a while the media admits the priority, the leaders' reputations and marketing for the next election of them or their buddy.
I would wave that flag when you stand behind your opinion, not do the modern American thing and avoid offending folks.

So it seems we agree on this one. I too feel that the largest tool for Osamas goals has been the actions of Bush and now even more so Obama with the whole nation essentially on perminant clamp down and economic turmoil. This was their goal and 9-11 did not do it, we did it. This is a lot like that movie Inception. Osama just planted the seeds and we grew the crop, with fertilizer no less.
My point was you seemed to cower from this and I don't think people should. If we don't cower, perhaps we could convince people that spontaneous cooperation does exist (as you argued against in another thread) and perhaps we don't need to develop into more of a police state?
