"We’ve been asking this for months now: Is it time for that National Conversation About Chicago yet?
At least 18 people were shot, one fatally, in less than four hours in attacks in Chicago Thursday evening, police said."...
..." Dare we say it’s time for Gang Control? Perhaps we can institute background checks and waiting periods in Chicago before you’re allowed to join a gang. Sounds preposterous? Makes more sense than trying to disarm the law-abiding public whenever there’s a mass shooting, like this past Monday in Washington. Better yet, how about outlawing gangs entirely?..."
(CBS) – Gov. Pat Quinn says he would consider using state resources to help combat Chicago street violence, but only if city officials want the assistance.
Speaking on this week’s mass shooting in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, Quinn was asked whether there have been discussions about sending in the state police or Illinois National Guard to assist Chicago police.
Gun violence and murder in Barry's adopted hometown?! Preposterous! This is obviously a play by the right wing media to inflate statistics and attempt to make more of the situation than there actually is. Besides, where is the outrage from the progressives? Surely they wouldn't let 18 murders in one day get past them without some form of protest. Besides, guns are illegal in Chicago - PROOF THAT THIS NEVER HAPPENED.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Instead of penalizing millions of gun owners who don't hurt anyone, why not go after gang leaders? Find out who they are, arrest them for racketeering and see how that decreases violence.
One of the reasons Detroit experienced white flight is that the African-American politicians decided to go soft on crime because they thought it was racist to lock up the perps. Once the gangs knew they didn't have to fear the police, they became more brazen. And people who had the money to get out went to safer suburbs or states.
