Food Stamps Bipartisan Compromise?

The Republicans want to cut back food stamps. Michele Obama wants our kids to eat better.
How about a compromise reducing the foods that are eligible for food stamps? Fresh fruit permitted, Twinkies not allowed, etc. Think this would make Republicans feel better about the money going out? And should please the Dems that the people in need are getting healthy food.

There is already precedence for this, some states control what food is allowed to be bought. And Colorado says some foods, like candy and gum, are taxed.

There are precedents for all kinds of bad stuff.

I think we should distribute the food to those in need, not the cards. The constant interaction could be used to help the person not need the food. There could be lessons on starting a personal garden. The goal needs to be feed today and get them off assistance tomorrow.

If they hand out food, then they will not hand out Twinkies or gum, even the broken media will try and sell some ads from such a story.

The one thing we sure as heck don't need is a national debate. I think food programs could be wholly handled on the county or town level. Many towns have food redistribution programs, even if informal, if they don't, one can easily be started. The already established public kitchens at the public schools could be the focal point for community food help for those in desperate need of food.

What is the current status of those in need of food in the 285 corridor, does anyone know?

Just kidding, of course the fed should have a hand in this (hopefully a big one) and just give out credit cards, they aren't paying the bill, we are. The easiest money to spend, other peoples'.
