Disagree. I've never had to give any personal info to get an insurance quote before which would let them know exactly who I am. I'm mainly talking about the actual insurance company sites, but I've tried esurance (or whatever it's called) in the past and was able to get quotes from them too with no info as I recall (but it's been awhile).

Yes, you have to give age, sex, county, etc. But that is general stuff. It's enough to give me a quote, though. So why would they need a name, address, phone number or what ever else they might ask for? I'm only talking about just getting a non-binding quote.

If I want to sign up, I understand the need for all that info, and more. But if I just want a quote, I don't trust anyone, insurance company or government, with that info because it's way more info than they need at that point. And it does allow scammers to try to steal such info.
