Why do so many of the American people not care about how much their kids, grandkids and on and on will have to pay to prop up a temporary lifestyle or a legacy for a president.
I do not see any reason, if we are so great, in these modern times with every tool or gadget you could want to make life easier, that we cannot live within our means.
No one has any plan to pay back the money we currently owe, what justification are people using to borrow more to prop up stuff eventually.
Are you really depending on the economy growing faster than our govt growth to the point of paying off this debt?
OR
Are you just planning on not paying it back?
OR
What?
Just saying we need to borrow more money to keep us from imploding seems like a clear and outright admission that we have failed as a society. We have been borrowing like crazy ever since the govt took over the economy and they have never come up with a payback plan.
The attitude that those that are OPPOSED to borrowing more to prop up the economy are just living more more than today. They are thinking of kids and grandkids and the legacy of the human race, vs just the legacy of one man that will almost certainly be bad.
I used to say how bad Bush's reputation (along with the citizens of that time) would be in time. And I still think I am right, what I did not expect is that Bush's bad reputation over time will not stand out because of how unbelievably bad Obama and this times citizens reputation will be. Bush is the president that cost us a lot of money, Obama will the the president that that cost us the rest of our money and everything else.
There is no justification to borrow more govt money than you want more for you and yours now at the expense of EVERYONE in the future. We don't need to default on loans, we simply need to cut domestic spending to pay for our past spending.
Think of those poor people as you suggest we borrow more, they will be screwed more than anyone. Today it is just a computer addiction glitch, tomorrow it will just be out of money, no glitch, we could not afford to pay anyone or turn the computer on.
Time to teach folks how to fish (by the way parents, that is the one job you actually have). Where the heck are the families of those in need? Do any of you have kids on welfare, unemployment, etc? Do any of you have family on public assistance that YOU are NOT helping? Another sign we have failed as a society is that we expect all this help to come through the govt to the point where many Americans will let their family go on to life assistance from the govt before they help them directly. What a freaking joke.
Bottom line, there is not actually money to fund those EBT cards. Are you actually part of a nation that you are proud of...a nation that does not even have $10, not even $10 to it's name to help those in need in this nation, the only option to get $10 is to borrow it from another country? This in itself makes this country a failure and it has been for some time.
P.S. this is now my favorite post. Not because I think it is well written, but it the post, including the moment in time, when I realized that I personally am more successful and more wealthy than the nation I live in. That in a selfish sense is pretty damn cool. The cool thing is that most of you fall into this group too. Simply give your kid a quarter and he is richer than the USA, pretty cool. Might be a good fireside lesson tonight.
