The sky is falling.....the sky is falling.....hummmm CHICKEN LITTLE.....grab your ankles......FITCH was one of the rating agencies paid off by Wall Street to rate the garbage CDOs backed by fog mirror mortgages (same garbage the sheep via Fed Reserve are buying to the tune of $$$$ 1 TRILLION a year to keep the crap game afloat as we speak)....the USA deserves a derate because of the massive debt......raising the ceiling simply permits Cakes to fund entitlements with inadequate revenues......LEW will service the debt (easily done) but Cakes and the Radical Socialists must cut entitlements to stay below the ceiling.........the sky is just fine Chicken teeny.....

:yeahthat: Those who think we are more credit worthy because we perpetually print money need to get educated. Hell, lets just raise the debt limit to 50 trillion so we don't have to worry about thses silly budgets for a couple decades. I'm sure that would work out nicely.

I'm not sure these rating agencies are relevant anymore, nobody trusts them anyway. Same for the credit scores and credit bureaus, bunch of BS IMO

Personally I've never checked my credit score nor do I give a rats rear about it until I see any issues. Its a big scam to me. JMO

When I was in high school there was this week when all the popular kids did not think I was cool.

And then everything turned out fine, my mom just reminded me to be myself and not shape my life on what those self important losers thought of me, they would likely end up pumping your gas.

And really, what is so unhealthy about the ratings reflecting what everyone else in the world knows and sees every day when they look to the US, citizens included. Downgrade earned, now who is going to downgrade the rating agencies for taking this long? I mean really?

Well I have to disagree. There needs to be some way of checking the credit history of a borrower. If my best friend asks me to loan him $100 and I know he rarely ever pays his friends back, that information is crucial to my decision to make that loan. If I don't know the borrower, it's even more critical. And with all the scams and identity theft these days, it's a good idea to look at your credit history now and then imo.

Obama will leave office with the US 20 trillion in debt. Fitch must be thinking how are we going to pay that back.

@Rick -I never "loan" my best friends or family any money, I would consider it a gift and not expect it paid back. If the do its great, otherwise I forget it. Agree it would be nice to have information on credit, I just don't trust the current system's information as being valid. JMO

But what's the alternative? How can you make a better system that reveals an individual's history of paying back loans?

And if you loan a friends money and never expect to be paid back, you will soon have many more friends than you can afford

I will bet you would feel differently if you owed 27+trillion and wanted to borrow 5 trillion more.
