use it or lose it’ shopping sprees

And this is how it has always been. Even down at the divisional level of a small warship over 35 years ago.

In other news the ex-democratic speaker of the house, Nancy Peloci, says the larder is bare. We need every penny of the trillions we spend annually.

http://articles.washingtonpost.com/2013 ... cartridges

"This past week, the Department of Veterans Affairs bought $562,000 worth of artwork.

In a single day, the Agriculture Department spent $144,000 ontoner cartridges.

And, in a single purchase, the Coast Guard spent $178,000 on “Cubicle Furniture Rehab.”

This string of big-ticket purchases was an unmistakable sign: It was “use it or lose it” season again in Washington.

All week, while Congress fought over next year’s budget, federal workers were immersed in a separate frantic drama. They were trying to spend the rest of this year’s budget before it is too late.

The reason for their haste is a system set up by Congress that, in many cases, requires agencies to spend all their allotted funds by Sept. 30.

If they don’t, the money becomes worthless to them on Oct. 1. And — even worse — if they fail to spend the money now, Congress could dock their funding in future years. The incentive, as always, is to spend.

So they spent. It was the return of one of Washington’s oldest bad habits: a blitz of expensive decisions, made by agencies with little incentive to save."...

Bob,

This is way to real to post here, falls in the same category as Thom. Sowell.

These scum govt officials could solve this problem by getting jobs in the real world.

Rather than posting what they purchased, if you have them, you should post the NAMES of the govt worker traitors that are steeling our money because they lack morals. Their addresses too. We could likely get these folks to quit. Then once IDed, the people will let these folks know directly what they think of their actions, and oh yeah, FIRE everyone above them that allowed this to happen.

The cop that attacked all those kids during OWS in CA with pepper juice. Did you know he is getting workman's comp right now for the mental anguish of all the people that contacted him and told him how worthless he was as a human after he attacked those kids at the bequest of the university. He is getting paid for his crime, but no longer has the job and probably feels like less than human. The same should happen to those you describe that are thieving us using the govt as a shield. Call them out, make them feel less than human, that is the humane thing to do.

But we have been making fun of $30 rolls of govt toilet paper my whole life. No one really cares about govt waste. All they really care about is if the $30 toilet paper will get them another 3c.

So again, please name the names of the wasters, otherwise we are as guilty as the now nationally famous pirating cops of east Texas and Tennessee, charging the items requested in stead of the REAL CRIMINALS, the people that make the requests for stuff they do not need.

And many of these same agencies made big, obscene purchases right before the time of the expected shutdown.
Think private companies would spend all their cash right before a planned shutdown?

The big ammo buys that made headlines the year before were the same deal, they bought four years of training ammo despite being on sequestration.

Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
