"In the course of their duties, Chicago police come into possession of all sorts of contraband: jewelry, video games, bicycles, cars. They sell the stuff through online auctions that are open to the public. They also confiscate some 10,000 firearms each year, with an estimated value of $2 million. They sell them and put the $2 million through a shredder."...
I don't know if they still do this but Chicago used to throw the guns into a deep part of Lake Michigan. The ATF would go out with a couple Chicago police to make sure all the guns went overboard.
Gun makers have to love this, every year thousands of guns are lost in boating accidents or thrown overboard by law enforcement.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
Of course Chicago police don't need any of the $2 million because they are solvent and it keeps the guns off the streets. I just know more aren't brought in from other areas. Couldn't happen. What morons. And why they are failing.
