People care because when we put costs in the blender, we all pay for everyone in some way.
What do you think we are doing now? Do you think an asprin cost $24 at the emegency room because thats what they decided to charge us? It's $24 because the other 23 people before you didn't have insurance...This plan makes the free loaders pay, it can't possibly do anything but reduce costs for people already paying their bills.

I think you are wrong, or mostly wrong. Sure they need to cover the costs of the uninsured, but that is not 90% of people, that is just a few % that got blown out of proportion so that people will react. The reason you pay so much for meds at the doctor is the same as the reason you pay so much for the doctor's time or a sandwich at the airport. They have the exclusive right to sell you that item in the place and at the time it was needed. This is again, just like the airport, as a result of the regs restricting who can do what, where and when.
Plus, everyone knows if you go to the hospital, bring your own OTC painkillers, because otherwise they will sell you their at 100x the price. Plus once in this restricted zone, you can sell your apirin for 50x the price, getting a 5000% profit margin and still saving patients 50%. This will also reduce the cost of health insurance for everyone. Not a big solution, but a damn obvious thing most people should do. If the doctor recommends OTC meds, just let them know you will purchase them yourself. Same with bandaids and TP.
But again, they charge a lot because you gave them a monopoly on dispensing meds at the hospital. They charge a lot because you let them and don't force them to lower the price, in stead you force everyone else into the ACA so that they can be paid whatever price they want.
Be clear the Democrats version of everything is give us your money and your labor and we will let you have what we think you need later. Health Insurance. In fact the Democrats and their subgroup the Republicans are so twisted, they have substituted health insurance for health care...because all that matters is that the bills get paid. Health care, well that is on the list somewhere, I think, let me page through, wait, I though, but, um health care was supposed to be part of this, ah nevermind, isn't it great, the doctors will get paid, and even more than before, problem solved. What was the problem again, ah who cares, we have control of more of the money....again.
Again, we pay extra because of the forced monopoly. An example in the private sector, not govt related, would be sneaking candy, popcorn or soda into the movies, or we could implement the AMA and force everyone to buy movie theater cost risk insurance. It is actually easier to sneak in the food.
