He says it will take 25 minutes on the phone for an individual and 45 minutes for a family. Even if we accept his numbers, how can we enroll millions with those long phone times plus the time to process the application?
And it all turns out to be another big fib anyway since applications by mail or phone still have to go through the same healthcare.gov web queue as well...
I suspect some may buy off-exchange plans direct from the insurance companies or ehealth. If you do this, no advanced tax credit and possibly no tax credit (if you qualify) when you file in 2015. But I'm not sure 100%

Last I checked with ehealthinsurance.com, you can purchase a plan through them but they made it clear you cannot apply for a subsidy (tax credit) through them. They implied that may change someday, though. So for now, if you want a subsidy you need to apply through the federal or one of the state insurance exchanges. At least that's my current understanding.
And you don't have to wait until you file in 2015 to get your subsidy. You can get it right away in the form of a discount on your 2014 premiums. But if you guess your 2014 income wrong on the low side in your application, you would get stuck paying interest and possible tax penalties for any undeserved subsidies received.
I'd rather do it the ol fashioned way and take a deduction on my taxes filed in 2015. Actually I'd rather have a simpler tax system with lower rates. Good luck with that.
I have no idea what my 2014 income is. Last I checked we are in 2013.
Income engineering is going to be the new fad. You heard it here first!

Income engineering, like the wording. Another way to get around ACA. Why work or get paid more or pay yourself more if you are a business owner if it will cost you in the long run.
More good news, this time from our very own exchange in Connect Colorado. No worries though, they may be able to fix it by next October, proabably another few hundred million in IT jobs!
"Colorado has no quick fix for a seemingly endless Medicaid application that health exchange board members believe is driving away customers and decreasing the number of people buying health insurance through Colorado’s new multi-million dollar health exchange.
Now, state and exchange officials are not saying how much more Colorado will have to spend to build a streamlined system that will be much more friendly to consumers. So far, Colorado has spent nearly $200 million building its own exchange. The soonest a revamped system would be up and running is next October, long past the deadline for consumers to sign up for health insurance for 2014."

I'm wondering where our local main stream media is on Connect Colorado? Reading some of the articles it sounds even much worse than I thought. Enrollments are low and the applications have to be completed by phone calls. Helllooooo Media?

Can't make up my mind whether to smile or frown. Smile that these incompetents don't have a clue as to what they are doing when it comes to building a functioning website, at the fed or state level. The more mess the better to get the taxpayer pissed and willing to do something about it. Sad to think though that more of the taxpayer's money will be spent on a rush job for another ineffective website/database. But then it has to be shown by example that GOVT should not be involved. Such glee to watch Hickenlooper and Obama take the heat.
