How much trust does this administration deserve at this point and who's fault is this lack of background checks? This can't be blamed on the website developers, so who will Obama blame if personal information is compromised by bad employees?
WASHINGTON – Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius admitted Wednesday that it was possible convicted felons could be hired as ObamaCare ‘navigators,’ giving them access to personal information like Social Security numbers and addresses of anyone signing up for the program.
Wonder if there will be an exemption box to check on your IRS form that says: 'Info not provided because of lack of trust in government navigators and hackers.'
1. So lets say they are vetted, how do you pick the people that vet them or those that vet the vetters.
2. There will not be a check box because the exchanges are optional services there to help you do what the laws says you have to do exchange or not. The exchanges were set up for those that do not have the skills or resources to compare plans on their own. Most people posting here have that ability, even if they choose not to use it.
3. If you call someone you don't know, before you start giving them info, don't you ask about security? And then after that, since you cannot effectively refer to the verbal answer, ask for it in writing?
Most hacking for info is from commercial web sites with credit card info.
do you cranks know paranoid you sound.
I've had to deal with the Obamacare mess the last week and nobody has asked for any personal information.
grow up.
What did they ask for in order to get you health insurance?
What did you use to sign up, without personal info, how will they know your insurance is yours, couldn't I just pretend to be you, but if I did, how to I tell them I am you?
Of course they asked for personal info or you did not really go through the process. We use personal information to tell people apart, but you will argue this.
They asked for name and address, also my age and wether I smoked.
you have no idea what you are trying to talk about.
when I apply I do that on the phone or in person. Do you think that any business vets their telemarketers? no health info is needed or credit info.
you are an idiot

Only your name, address, DOB and SS# will be needed to actually sign you up for the program. And just how do you think that this is going to be accomplished over the phone or in person? By entering the exchange portal and typing in that information perhaps? And who is it that is going to be navigating you through that exchange portal if not the navigators that the HHS Secretary has informed us are not having their backgrounds checked prior to being employed?
FWIW, I agree it is much ado about nothing really. It is very similar in construction to the nonsense that the Hudak supporters are pulling by calling the people in the recall district and informing them that the person circulating the petition hasn't been background checked in a vain attempt to scare the elderly and stay at home moms away from answering the door to sign the recall petition.
