"Israel is working on coordinating plans for a possible military strike with Saudi Arabia, with Riyadh prepared to provide tactical support to Jerusalem, a British newspaper reported early Sunday.

The two countries have both united in worry that the West may come to terms with Iran, easing sanctions and allowing the Islamic Republic to continue its nuclear program."...

Sounds good to me!
You're kidding, right? If the Isreali's and the Saudi's do this we'll be in the soup whether we wish to be or not as a result of the mutual aid and support treaties we have with both of them.
PS....you are correct...mutual alliances will play...BUT OIL rules. We will support Saudis for stabilization of oil supplies...TIME to do this with Arabs/Jews leading the way.....now Cakes will have to find his balls to do anything but blather..........

Disagree. Hasn't Israel managed to shut down Saddam's and Assad's nuke programs in the past without international incident?
Iran is a partial pariah state and I can't imagine much happening other than Hamas turning up the heat domestically in Israel.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
Iran's nuclear program is bourgt with petrodollars.....uhhhhh.... petro rubles......petroeuros........they have never had the capability of designing anything nuclear much less even a refinery.
NOW.....if we were not hooked on the oil tit the Middle East would not be an issue
more like Somalia......ROOT CAUSE.....
I think Iran has some legitimate interest in building military capacity.
Start by looking at a map.
Iran's neighbors include:
- Afghanistan (Taliban is openly hostile toward Shiites).
- Pakistan (which has first-strike capabilities)
- Russia (love/hate relationship between these two countries)
- Saudi (strong Sunni/Shiite historical conflict)
- Iraq (a country with a history of hostilities against Iran).
- China (a historically imperialistic country)
The United States has 10 Air Force bases and a substantial number of Naval bases surrounding Iran, and our intention is hardly friendly.
Israel and Saudi are both fired up with rhetoric (Iran has more than its fair share of that).
The sad thing is that this would be a war based more on sentiments than economics.
(Germany started into war for economic reasons). The economics of the region should be incredibly good (oil/gas --- and a plethora of resources in Iran). Anger and rhetoric have ensured that this is simply not the case - and I think that stinks.
The USA has been arming the Arabian peninsula for awhile --- they're more-than-capable of defending themselves against Russia's Iran. If you combine the defensive capabilities of Arabia with the strategy, technology, and resolve of Israel - you get a hell of a force to be reckoned with. (they won't need much assistance from the USA).
