Hawaii lawmaker ‘solves’ homeless problem by destroying their stuff with a sledgehammer

“I got tired of telling people I’m trying to pass laws,” state Rep. Tom Brower told Hawaii News Now. “I want to do something practical that will really clean up the streets.”
(yes, because heaven forbid you should do your job and serve your constituents, even the ones who are without a home)

Brower showed the TV News crew how he scours streets for shopping carts that homeless people use to transport their belongings and then and uses a sledgehammer to destroy them.
(can't wait to see what happens when he does that and the homeless person catches him)

Brower insisted to Hawaii News Now that he had not yet taken a shopping cart out of the hands of a homeless person, but he didn’t rule it out.

Mental Health America of Hawaii Executive Director Marya Grambs said that Brower’s tactics were sending the wrong message.
(umm, duh?)

“His message to the public is that it’s okay to commit acts of violence against homeless people, against vulnerable people. It’s okay for vigilante justice,” she noted.
(no kidding!)

In the end, the sledgehammer-wielding lawmaker did not explain how destroying shopping carts would reduce homelessness.

That was tongue-in-cheek. I was poking fun at the conservatives who cry RINO lol every time a Republican does something that's too liberal for them. This guy is doing something that's completely useless at fixing the root cause of the problem...that's not a partisan issue, that's a stupidity problem. I'm just embarrassed that he's a Democrat.

WOW, you must get embarrassed a lot. Even if you believe that the ACA is the best thing since sliced bread, the roll out and "messaging" proves that the entire administration does not have 30 IQ points between the whole lot of them.

He should be charged for destruction of property. Shopping karts are pad for and belong to stores.

Freezeman, all democrats hate the poor and minorities. I thought everyone knew that. The problem in HI is that the poor are impacting the tourist trade which is a rich source of tax dollars.
Democrats hate everyone who gets between them and other peoples money.
