Hudak said she is stepping aside to save taxpayers the $200,000 cost of a special election. However, our partners at the Denver Post reported if Hudak was recalled and a Republican won the seat, Democrats would lose control of the Colorado Senate. With Morse and Giron recalled and Republicans taking their seats, Democrats now only have an 18-17 edge.

Sounds like she took one for the team, and it explains why the Dems want to avoid an election.

Hudak initially called the recall effort "a small group seeking to undo the will of voters, who re-elected me to the Senate last November. Unable to defeat me then, they are now attempting a political power grab using a low voter turnout, no mail ballot recall election strategy. The perpetual recall of legislators that we are now seeing is an obstacle to governing and addressing the needs of Coloradans, especially those impacted by devastating floods."

If she really believes it's a small group, why doesn't she stand against the recall? And what the hell does "those impacted by devastating floods" have to do with it? Deflect much?

I'm not happy with her gun stance, but the icing on the cake was her response to the rape victim that testified before her committee.

I think it's very wise to continue the signature gathering and submitting so she can't pull something at the last minute. I don't believe she is to be trusted.

Agree Gramma. I will never understand women disarming women and in Evie's case, publicly insulting them too.

“I am pleased that the people of Senate District 19 put enough pressure on Senator Hudak to cause her to resign her Senate seat. Her treatment of me and other women in March demonstrated Senator Hudak’s belief that she knows better than the women of Colorado how they should best defend themselves. My sincere hope is that the Democrats consider, in their replacement choice, that the women of Colorado can make self-defense decisions on their own.” – Amanda Collins, Rape victim

From what I understand the folks recalling her had 92% of the signatures of those they needed which tells me that she had NO CHOICE. I'm just glad that it's one more down the drain.. If everybody would just remember November...

Just heard from a very reliable source...

"Apparently the Secretary of State’s office has taken the position that they will not even accept petitions because Evie Hudak has resigned and since she has resigned, there is no merit for a recall. That’s a pretty authoritative source. Since there is nobody to accept the signatures, there is no need to continue gathering them."

Whomever they appoint must run in 2014. Her resignation speaks volumes about the fear Hick and gang are feeling. So although I am disappointed she weaseled out, her replacement will not be allowed to fill her seat through 2016 and that is the upside. It is with pure dread we face another General Session similar to last year. I hold out a little hope that the liberal democrats in CO will start listening to their constituents... I know, I know...wishful thinking on my part.

As progressive governance continues to self destruct I am glad to see that some can still see the silver lining.

:sarcasm: What are you on about now Bob? We have to hurry up and surrender all of our constitutional rights so our glorious leader and his big government can disarm the population, distribute the wealth evenly between the many (while padding the proletariat's lifestyle with only the best of the best), and dictate what we are allowed to posses. We don't know what's good for us so it's important that the government and our glorious leader tell us what we need to know and prevent us from doing anything that's not good for the collective (go ahead, disagree with King Barry and the Proletariat- you'll get "disappeared").

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus

If the democrats in this state had any integrity they would let a vote take place. Funny thing is:

1. They have no integrity.

2. They know they would lose.

Seems to me we have a bunch of sorry losers. Too bad, so sad.

Right on :like:

Does anyone else think Hudak was pressured to resign by some higher up Dems who promised her ass a seat at a different cushy job?
