Thanksgiving Conversations...

At what point during your Thanksgiving get togethers will you slip in Obamacare coverage options and sign up strategies? Our president thinks this is a great way to help him get the good word spread across this country and I have to agree... I'm working on a set of talking points to bring up with my inlaws... I know they will appreciate my dedication to the collective! :memorial:

I'm thinking of breaking up the meal into several courses innstead of a family style free-for-all. Here's what I think is a good option for others to think about:

1. Welcome family and guests at the door (perfect time to hand out the fact sheet, policy options, and sign up strategies)

2. Drinks (I'd suggest a strong spiked punch to start)... great time to break the ice and discuss the greater good of Obamacare.
3. Appetizers (nothing too fantastic, you want your guests to be focused on the topic and not the grilled bacon wrapped shrimp with garlic and jalapeno). This would be a good time to talk about alternatives sign up options.
4. The main course (I would avoid turkey... you'll need your guests to stay sharp and alert for the rest of your talking points) At this point I would bring up the vast list of ACA policy choices (all four of them).
5. Dessert (your choice here, just make sure you don't present it until ACA options have been fully discussed) So during and after dessert, this is a great time for a Q&A session for any points that are still unclear. Also please just focus on any positive stories you can find while avoiding these made up anecdotal negative stories (watch MSNBC as much as possible if you need some material).

These are just my suggestions... you should also visit the "Health care for the Holidays" website where a signup sheet will pop up (I suggest you sign in). There's some excellent ideas on this site as well which may fit you better. http://www.barackobama.com/health-care-holidays/

Lets all do our part and talk about what's REALLY important in our lives... helping our great leader with his great legacy! Happy Thanksgiving!!

I have to disagree with the OP, load up your guests with turkey so they will be less likely to question your lies about how good ACA will be for America.

And Happy Hannukah everyone! We won't have another Hannukah this early for several thousand years.

And you know Rick, there will be a few lemmings that will do just this! I made a deal with my family that we will keep politics away from the Thanksgiving Table. It's gonna be hard for me but I'll do my best!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Will Barrycare come up tomorrow during the Thanksgiving celebration at my little brothers house? Probably, I'm guessing that the folks that are against it will have the good taste not to bring it up until after the meal, football games, and naps. If the lemmings that are for it bring it up during the meal I will probably excuse myself from the table and go enjoy my Thanksgiving meal in a different room.

:sarcasm: I imagine that it would be really hard to eat a full meal like a roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings when half of your teeth are missing, you're suffering from a concussion, a few bruises, and some scratches while laying flat on your back on the dining room floor... Then again it's not really a party until the cops show up.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Well, it goes without saying that those of us who are against it will have good taste not to bring it up during the meal. Unlike the lemmings, we have class, integrity, common sense, remarkable modesty and decorum and...well, most of us have good looks to go along with it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving indeed, now is the time for introspection, taking inventory of what we are each fortunate to have and to have experienced, and to be thankful for our friends and family (no matter how annoying and wrong some of them are).

Enjoy your Thanksgiving feasts, give thanks that you are able to have them, and remember there are those who are less fortunate so donate, volunteer your time, and/or do both. I'd prefer that tomorrow be a day of gratitude and relaxation, not a day charged with political discourse. Thanksgiving isn't about politics, it's about giving thanks.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Well there you go ruining my sarcasm thread!!!

But seriously, you are right... and on Thanksgiving day, I only enjoy my life and my family like I've always done since I was a kid. Talking politics during Thanksgiving isn't allowed in our family and never will be. Those who do have missed the whole point of the holiday.

Sorry to bust your faux bubble Rick; I was able to see through your thinly veiled disguise on the first reading of your post. I'm incensed that Barry would try to corrupt the Thanksgiving holiday with his personal agenda but I have to admit it doesn't surprise me in the least. Nothing is out of bounds with Barry and pushing Barrycare on to all of us, he'll do any and everything to jam this law up our butts, including bypassing the website and changing what the law says on the fly. Let's start taking back our traditions and starting to make sense of the assaults on our Constitutional rights.

In the meanwhile, lets get back to doing what Thanksgiving is all about! Be thankful, enjoy the day, and share with family and friends. Don't forget the less fortunate, they need our help.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
