They seem convinced $15 won't cost jobs, so why not demand $45? How great would that be to be in high school and get a $45/hr job, or even $15/hr would be pretty nice.
Of course if those jobs still exist the inexperienced, uneducated, and unskilled won't get them anyway. They won't be worth paying that kind of money when you can now attract a higher level of employee.
Also, does anyone know if this $15/hr demand is only for fast food, or do they want $15/hr to be the new minimum wage for all?

The other consequence that is never discussed, is the fact that when you raise the wage of the zero skill workers, you then have to raise the wages of those above them. My daughter has been working at a shoe store for 3 years (since she was 16)... started at minimum wage and is now an assistant manager making $14.75. If the newbies now get $15, wouldn't it be logical and fair to raise her pay to $21?
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
Many union contracts have pay based on a multiple of the minimum wage. So if $15 is passed, then union guys might see their pay go to $30 an hour.
Why you are seeing union hires picketing the restaurants and not actual McDonald's employees.
