Politifact Lie of the Year (guess?)

Lie of the Year: 'If you like your health care plan, you can keep it'

It was a catchy political pitch and a chance to calm nerves about his dramatic and complicated plan to bring historic change to America’s health insurance system.

"If you like your health care plan, you can keep it," President Barack Obama said -- many times -- of his landmark new law.

But the promise was impossible to keep.

So this fall, as cancellation letters were going out to approximately 4 million Americans, the public realized Obama’s breezy assurances were wrong.

They all just "mispoke" for our own good... kinda like a parent does to their stupid child.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Come now, we knew it was a lie from the get go, regardless of what talking point the collectivists picked up in their echo chambers and chanted relentlessly like some kind of mantra, didn't we? Most, if not all, of us are old enough to remember the Clinton's attempt 20 or so years ago, don't we? We remember what derailed that effort was when it came out that in order to make the system work people were going to have to accept giving up their current insurance in favor of the "better" system that was being talked about, don't we? We remember that it was this that caused the shift from support to opposition amongst the populace and thus doomed the effort last time, right?

This was not a simple oversight, not a simple situation of that being the original plan that pragmatically had to be abandoned later on when the actual sausage making began; this was an intentional, deliberate deception by all involved from the outset because the collectivists learned from their prior mistake. The reality hadn't changed, it was still going to be necessary to cancel what you had to give you "better" coverage, but this time around the Democrats decided to lie about it until the truth came out after the damage had already been done.

I've read the whole bill. The machinations were certainly deliberate. And wait until you see what they have in store for health care delivery over the next few years.

Now some Democrat politicians are actually talking about fixing the ACA. The fix is already in. Don't get fooled again.

He never stopped lying, did he? A few weeks before the launch.

Less than a week before the October launch of the Affordable Care Act’s health insurance exchanges, President Obama delivered a speech in Largo, Maryland explaining how the new health care would work, and what Americans in different circumstances could expect.

“Even before the Affordable Care Act fully takes effect, about 85 percent of Americans already have health insurance—either through their job, or through Medicare, or through the individual market,” said the president. “So if you’re one of these folks, it’s reasonable that you might worry whether health care reform is going to create changes that are a problem for you—especially when you’re bombarded with all sorts of fear-mongering. So the first thing you need to know is this: If you already have health care, you don’t have to do anything.” [/size]

Of course, if you like the outcome of the ACA, then you can ignore the lies. Ends justifies the means... heh?

" If you already have health care, you don’t have to do anything"

I think I will print that out Walter, and carry it in my wallet as my Obama Healthcare guarantee card. Along with my Tax promise card.

Obama is also #1 on the Washington Post's "The biggest Pinocchios of 2013" list.

Congrats, Obama! In fact you have 3 of the top 10! :faint:
