The unemployment rate declined from 7.0 percent to 6.7 percent in
December, while total nonfarm payroll employment edged up (+74,000),
the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment rose
in retail trade and wholesale trade but was down in information.
Since the percentage of actual employed is now at 1977 levels, we really need a better way of measuring employment. Drops .3% while only adding 74k jobs?
Reminds me of how my TDI Jetta got 70 mpg the other day (of course the computer didn't take into account I was going from Loveland to Lakewood all downhill).
