Court upholds constitutionality of Conn. gun-control law
Court upholds strict gun law

A federal court’s decision this week to uphold Connecticut’s assault weapons ban is an important victory for gun safety advocates, transitioning from a year that ended with almost half of all states strengthening reform laws.

Judges in Hartford on Thursday defended the constitutionality of the law, which they said balances Second Amendment gun rights and the Obama administration’s call to reduce violence. Pro-gun advocates sought repeal and sued the state after Democratic Gov. Dannel Malloy signed the historic gun bill into law last April, but the court rejected their argument.

“The court concludes that the legislation is constitutional. While the act burdens the plaintiffs’ Second Amendment rights, it is substantially related to the important governmental interest of public safety and crime control,” U.S. District Judge Alfred Covello, an appointee of former President George W. Bush, wrote in the decision.

Oh darn... The Feds have ruled that States have the right to enact assault weapons bans... There goes the NRA's neighborhood....

The important distinction here is "a" federal court. There are all sorts of jackass judges in the many tiers of the federal court system. So, LJ, do not take too much comfort in some crackpot liberal federal judge upholding the crackpot Connecticut law.
Obama is even trying to stack federal judge appointments by changing the Senate rules to allow appointments by a simple majority. What a sleezeball.

How can the NRA stack the Supreme Court? Obama gets to nominate the justices.

Chicago had federal courts approve their anti-2nd ammendment laws and the Supremes righted the wrongs. And consider this, part of CN's laws required people to register their "assault" rifles. Guess what, only a handful of people are actually doing it. (What if they passed a law and no one obeyed it?)

Cool! Maybe the NRA could bribe Barack to nominate covert gun lovers. I would take the job. Oops, I am not very covert.

Come on guys, you've gotta let LJ have her little outrage crumbs when she can find them... so little good news for the Dems these days.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
