If the Iranians are coming to our coast it might actually cut down on transit time for our sailors. Just shadow them off Norfolk and be back home with the family for the weekend.

"They cannot hide themselves in the sea since the entire Middle East region, western Europe, the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman and the Straits of Hormuz are monitored by us and there is no place for them to hide."
Who's hiding ---- the USS Harry Truman doesn't need to hide.
Monitor as much as you like --- frankly - I think that's the whole point. How would you feel if you had two strike forces nearby? I don't think I'd feel really comfortable - but then again - that's the point, isn't it?
If I was king for a day - I'd surround their fleet with SSNs that surface or ping a couple of times each day - just to remind the guests they're not alone.
Only down side is that Russian boats might be hanging out with them. They're a slightly less desirable opponent in the cat/mouse game.
Normally I would say easy target practice for USA but as you have pointed out our current admin will just say stop that, like it will work.

Aside from being able to reach the maritime boundaries of the United States in the Atlantic, what point are they trying to make? Saber rattling at best. Given our current administration's relatively friendly position toward Iran I can't help but wonder what would be done if any hostile acts are attempted or accomplished. It's not a matter of capability, sending a few Iranian ships to the bottom of the Atlantic would hardly be a challenge for the US Navy.
And a few days later the sabers were rattled but nothing happened...
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
