Time For The GOP To Scrap The Electoral College?

Currently of the 270 electroral votes to win, the Dems have 245 already locked up. So they really have to compete in only a couple states to win the Presidency. And lately, the popular votes have been closer than the electoral counts. So is it time to replace this old system? Make a Republican voting in California or Colorado matter?

Damn Fred, you sound just like a democrat. The ends justify the means.

:YeahThat:

And nothing is ever "locked up", just ask Hillary.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

I am not the only one debating this. Oklahoma's legislature is debating about supporting the popular vote solution too.

Better idea than scrapping the electoral college. The winner in each congressional district gets the electoral college vote from that district. Winner of the most districts gets the two electoral college votes from the Senate seats for that State. Every State, every district, becomes important then. It would take an amendment to implement because the Constitution allows the States to decide how their votes will be cast, but if we are going to amend the Constitution anyway, might as well amend in in such fashion that the intent handed down by the framers is left mostly intact.

This has been debated openly since I was a kid, and I am very old.
