Reid stalling action on minimum wage

This is Obama's BIG initiative for this election cycle to try and fog the Obamacare problems.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Tuesday delayed action on legislation raising the minimum wage, the centerpiece of the Democrats’ 2014 agenda.

The Nevada Democrat made the surprising move amid escalating Democratic resistance in the wake of a Congressional Budget Office report released last week estimating that hiking the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour could cost the equivalent of 500,000 jobs by late 2016.

Reid has not yet unified his caucus on the issue, which is a constant in the Democrats’ election-year playbook. Of the 55 senators who caucus with the Democrats, only 32 have signed on as official co-sponsors of Sen. Tom Harkin’s (D-Iowa) bill.

Throughout this year, President Obama has called on Congress to “give America a raise.” But there is Democratic infighting over how much the raise should be.

The Democrats are obstructionist. Why do they hate poor people?

If Reid wasn't scared of the reality that forcing a minimum wage increase would hurt unemployment numbers (and the election), he would be pushing this hard. But like usual, these spineless hacks want it both ways. They want to be able to makes statements that buy votes, but won't go through with their promises because they know how much damage will be done. It's just like Obama saying he was going to close GITMO years ago... it sounded good to his sheep but the reality is that he had no plan for where these people would go.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

lol Fun to watch Reid squirm. But he will say as the great hero he tried and that there just weren't enough votes.

Who cares? A minimum wage increase would never get through the House unless it was paired with a major tax decrease or massive handouts of pork right before the 2014 re-election campaign.

It's too early in the campaign for the democrats to buy votes. If by some miracle they did get it passed, the average voter will have forgotten about it completely before casting their vote. The stall is to get it put off so the democrats can get good mileage out of it by creating sound bites about it just prior to voting.
