Good, I always thought the idea of personal forums was counter productive, although it was an additional revenue source for the owner. We all have enough to divide us without adding even just the perception of a forum that caters to one side or the other.

Let me make one thing crystal clear for you archer... I have no problem with you or anyone else posting whatever you want in any thread I start. BUT, I do have the right to call a coward a coward when I see one. It's just like Lois Lerner making a statement to Congress then hiding behind the 5th. If LJ is so f***ing smart and so thick skinned, then she should be able to handle a debate with me or anyone else on this forum. The fact that she will post her crap, then run away tells me she has NOTHING to offer. And the FACT that you consistently defend her is really quite hilarious. Why does she need defending anyway? Does she not own any big girl panties? I'm going to call her out every time she makes a cowardly hit and run post in one of my threads, and if you want to keep coming to her rescue, feel free... I just don't understand why you would waste the keystrokes.

What's hilarious rick is that you see me as defending LJ, she doesn't need me or anyone to defend her. No, my post was directed at you, and I would say the same to anyone who whined that another poster had posted in THEIR thread and they didn't like it. For a change... Yeah, it's all about YOU Rick.

You know rick, I've seen your other side... The thoughtful Rick, the guy with the courage to make it through the rough times and the willingness to share that courage with others, I guess I just expect more from you than the pettiness I saw in that post. Oh hell I expect more from myself too, but the political climate here seems to be bringing out the worst in all of us.

YOU KNOW I've tried over and over in the past to create some civil debate around here. I tried to have a section where only civil discussions were allowed so we could debate topics without someone coming in and crapping all over the place with libtard this, teabagger that, but nobody wanted it because of the irrational fear of moderation. That's still what I'd like to see because I care about where this country is headed for my kids and talking about this stuff in a civil and rational way helps me to deal with what I'm seeing.

If I'm dead wrong about my views, I want someone, anyone to tell me why by using facts and reason. But I'm just as human as anyone here regardless of what some people this "conservative" means. And because I am human, I have flaws and get pissed off when my real concerns for this country get discounted as extreme, hateful, racist, homophobic etc rants.

My problem with LJ is that I can't think of a single instance in her thousands of posts where she was involved in a respectful back and forth debate, not one. So if she decides to post her usual in one of my threads, yet proclaims she will ignore anything I say in regard to the topic, then I will call her out as a coward who doesn't have what it takes to actually counter what I believe with facts and reason. I would STILL be willing to debate her in any subject at any time and would be as respectful as I would if we were speaking face to face... that offer will always stand.

Maybe it's because of my own personal situation with my dad that drives me to understand the ultra liberal mind. He has many of the same views as she does but I can't even mention politics with him because I have so much respect for him that the last thing I want to do is get into an argument to prove him wrong. I just want to understand why he seems to have lost all common sense (imo).

So when I come to this site, it's to mainly understand how and why liberals and Democrats think the way they do... maybe it will help me understand my dad some day. But if I get all bent out of shape because I can't even get a good debate in an anonymous forum, then you can just chalk that up to me being a flawed human, very flawed in fact. For people who just want to name call and interrupt what could be a good discussion, I won't lay down and take it. If someone is only a one-way microphone, too cowardly to stay in the ring, I will call them out. If that makes me a hater, so be it... but I will always stay in the ring and accept the same kind of punches I dish out. Words don't scare me, words don't hurt my feelings, and words definitely don't intimidate me... so if that is the only goal of a poster, I will continue to express my opinion of cowards who can dish it out don't have to stones to take it.

I think it goes back to that "settled science" idea and the unwillingness to check multiple sources.

To me, it just seems like liberals think they know the truth and are unwilling to debate their posistion. There are also conservatives who are that way, especially social conservatives who do the same. "The Bible says this is the way it is!" (Despite the Bible contradicting themselves.)
In that way the Left is like the religious right.
