I caught some radio program on this topic today, apparently the idea of avoiding the word bossy has to do with a liberal notion that not calling young girls and young women bossy will preserve their self esteem and ensure that they can secure leadership positions. More politically correct fodder for the masses, heaven forbid anyone be called out for their behavior when they step out of line; "...I'm not the person at fault, it's those mean people that are out to hurt my feelings and damage my self esteem..."
