THE OATH

Modern version......

I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgement, this covenant

I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and
gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.

I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measure which are required, AVOIDING those twin
traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nilhillism.

I will remember that there is art to medicine, as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy
and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemists DRUG.

I wll not be ashamed to say "I know not" nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills
of another are needed for a patient's recovery.

I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the
world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is
given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to TAKE A LIFE, this
awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty

Above all, I must not play God.

I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart,a cancerous growth, but a sick human being
whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes
these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick.

I will remember that I remain a member of society and special obligations to all my fellow
human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.

If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered
with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling
and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.

Ask YOUR doctor if he remembers these words.......IF he does NOT......WHY?

DISCONNECT the "feeding line" from the pharmco pigs to the doctors and REMIND physican's
of their oath.......(greed will be hard to mitigate,but it CAN be addressed and dealt with.)

Ask your doctor if he STILL remembers this oath.....

What happened to piss you off Homeagain? Why the recent ripping on drug companies?

By the way, I think that a major problem with healthcare right now is that the government is involved in it. If it goes even farther in the direction it's headed, we'll have removed all incentives for doctors to give great service. Once they basically become federal government employees, they'll have all the incentive to provide great customer service that the other bureaucracies do.

MY OUTRAGE is the myopic mindset about healthcare (subsequent Obamacare) that ONTINUES
to be present on this board.....page upon page upon page of posts that Obamacare is the
problem.....when in reality, it is the OUTCOME to be expected when the issue has NOT been
addressed in decades....Pharmco is one of the issues that should be front and center and the
OTHER issue is the LACK of personal responsibility.....YOU are responsible for your own health
and IF you (collectively) ignore that responsibility there is a price....we are ALL paying the
price for the Unwillingness of the masses to assume responsibility.....ObamaCare is NOT the
enemy....indifference or laziness is the enemy......IF you need evidence to support that state
ment look no further than the HIGH rate of diabetes,High Blood Pressure,obesity....JMO

There are many doctors who know their oath and provide good service. Many just aren't connected to Obumacare or Medicare. I don't blame them.

So what is your solution? Does include more gov't control?

I have ALREADY posted my solution.....FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE is the "sane" way to approach
health issues.....DRUGS are the LAST choice.....(knowing that in SOME cases, it is the only
choice that makes sense)....it's really VERY simple......"first do no harm" and start at the
beginning rather than the end of a health issue....which is what FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE strives
to accomplish....JMO

EQUAL TIME for the opposing point of view....OBAMACARE IS NOT THE ENEMY.....apathy was/is
the ENEMY.....
