LOL If we paid them more would they be less corrupt?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/pos ... underpaid/ ?

"Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.) said in an interview with Roll Call on Thursday that members of Congress are underpaid and can't afford to live "decently" in Washington.
“I think the American people should know that the members of Congress are underpaid,” Moran said. “I understand that it’s widely felt that they underperform, but the fact is that this is the board of directors for the largest economic entity in the world.”
Members of Congress make $174,000 per year currently."...

I agree. If they were paid 500K a year would that encourage more do gooders to run? Instead of people who will give out pork for kickbacks?

I assume that is a rhetorical question?

Harry Reid is a senior U.S. Senator and a member of the Democratic Party, as well as an attorney at law and has a net worth of $5 million. Harry Reid has earned his net worth through his lucrative career in politics, and as a city attorney in his early years.

Lucrative career in politics? Again are any of you on the left willing to see the world as it is. It is not a this party is corrupt problem it is a the government controls our lives and they are for sale problem.

Am I wrong? disagree? Please state why. Or would you rather cower in the weeds of you are mean for using that word and therefore we can ignore you.

LOL, poor Congress critters, under-performing and underpaid at $174K. Cry me a river... And they are only in session about 1/2 the year. How about giving them a time card and flat $100/hour when they check in for "work" at the Capitol.

The part about going back to a per diem is funny too. Probably he doesn't realize that current IRS rules limit per diem to 12 months for away from home workers. No problem, just create a special exception for the ruling class. :)

Each congressmen represents about 600000 people. Earning 174K is getting them pretty cheep.
