Front page story in the Denver Post this morning looks this morning at the signup rate of Medicaid versus the private plans offered through state exchanges.
Washinton state? 586% more signed up to an already overwhelmed Medicaid system.
Colorado? Only 162% more.
What will this do for increasing costs? And where will they find medical people to serve them?
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
More doctors and medical people will need to be hired. That's just a guess, though.
I wonder how many more people getting preventative medical care early will impact the number of people down the road who don't seek medical care until it's almost too late and their treatment costs are astronomical? Either way, we end up eating it. The people who wait until it's too late show up at emergency rooms with no way to py.
My company used to require employees carry health insurance for the first time this year we are no longer. We did get to see a slide that pointed out the fines. And also a slide showing how the company paid 75% of the premiums. So if our workers decide not to carry health insurance anymore, the company could save $5 an hour per employee.
