Rep. Cory Gardner(R): Make Birth Control Pills OTC Medication!

03 Sep 2014 13:46 #1 by FredHayek
The man who formerly supported anti-abortion personhood legislation now thinks the best way to cut down on abortions is to no longer require birth control pills to need prescriptions.

Planned Parenthoods reaction to the Republican's idea to increase womens' access to birth control? Thumbs down! They note that if they are made over the counter, women might have to pay $600 a year as opposed to having their insurance cover it. Plus the very partisan PP can't very well support anything a Republican dreams up.

Think this is a good idea or not?

Good idea politically or good idea medically?

Do you really think it's a good idea to let a 13, 14 or 15 year old girl go into Safeway or KS and buy these pills?

Politically I think it is a loser as well outside of the registered Republican voters. As noted, the Democrats think that birth control approaches freedom of speech, and supersedes the right to bear arms, in the tier of unalienable rights protected by the Constitution after all, and having someone else pay for it is simply the latest entitlement handed out by the Democrats.
