Imagine having to deal with the survivor's guilt. This has to be the kind of experience that crushes men's souls and motivates them to do every bit of harm it takes to exact revenge (could there ever be enough?).
Depending on which side you're on it's right or wrong; no matter where your loyalties and heart lie people have been at war with each other since before recorded time. Could mankind ever evolve to a point that war would never be required again? I doubt it, it's not in our DNA. We are hard coded to collect, preserve, and defend. It's what we do. Do unto others before they do unto you or suffer the consequences of your own inaction.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian." - Henry Ford
Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus
