A New Challenge for All You Courthouse Regulars! :)

02 Dec 2014 11:17 - 02 Dec 2014 11:32 #1 by ScienceChic
At the beginning of the year, I tossed out a challenge that all of you who post here regularly explore the rest of the site and post in other forums as well. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the discussions and dialog here, but I'm looking down the Recent Topics and it's CH after CH posts, and I'm thinking the poor mods would like some variety. :P So, I'm here to issue the challenge again and add a twist: not only would I like to see posts in other forums here, but I'm going to ask that you go to another member's Profile Page and post on their Wall , then post a tease in that thread I just linked to so we know what to check out! Ask a question, simply say hello, share a poem or sage words of wisdom with a quote, post a picture or a video, make it a scavenger hunt across several pages - have fun with it! Bonus: if you post a testimonial on any of our advertisers Profile Pages, I'll buy you a drink at Brooks Place Tavern!

Yes, I have an ulterior motive for all of this. Next week, I am giving a presentation to the Conifer Chamber membership at our monthly breakfast meeting about the benefits of using MMT and briefly going over some of our exclusive, fantastic features. Pictures say a thousand words so I need some screen shots of all this - can you help a sister out?! :2thumbsup: Thanks!

ScienceChic wrote: I happily admit I love this site, always have, all of it, and I selfishly want to see it grow (and I'd like to think all of you do as well). So for all of you that primarily hang out in here, I challenge you to broaden your horizons: for every post you put in this forum, you have to put a post in any other forum here. (see what I'm doing there? heehee #shamelesssitepromotion)

• Like Sports ?
Cook often and have a recipe to share, or need an idea for dinner tonight?
• Heard a good joke lately? Need a laugh - you'll find something funny here .
Eaten out recently? Tell us how it was so we know to go try it. Local reviews are the BEST!
Computer driving you nuts? Ask your fellow members, they may have had a similar problem and can offer a solution.
• Found a new TV show or book you really like - tell us about it!
• Taken any cool wildlife or scenery pictures lately? Seen the ones already shared by others? Post them here and Share them with your friends and family with the social media buttons on the side!
• Don't know what to say? Check out what's been posted recently or is sitting there lonely and just post a reply.
• Been to one of our local businesses lately or one of our advertisers and had a good experience? It's easy to post negative reviews when something goes wrong, but how about when you were served well, or found something really special to give as a gift? If you like this site, let them know you saw them here on MyMountainTown.com either in person, in their forum or on their Profile Page so they can't deny they are getting a return on their investment and feel great about spending their hard-earned money advertising with us! Help me help you, as Jerry MacGuire said - they stick around, we can keep giving back to the community. We're currently doing a contest where our Pcik 5 winner will get to choose $150 in gift certificates with the My Mountain Town advertiser(s) of their choice - neighbors helping neighbors to Shop Local!

Have you seen our new Wundermap Page ? It's under the Weather & Traffic drop-down menu above and It Freakin' ROCKS! All the local weather stations and Weather Underground webcams in one place, you can click the options on the right and add radar, fire danger, ski reports, and more. Change the weather stations to show temp & wind direction, or dew point and precipitation. Click on one and open it up to see even more detailed info!

I'm not much of a small talk guy but I'll try if it helps you SC. I think it would help if interesting topics from other parts of the site were advertised here so we know about them... I'll admit that I'm lazy.... I have a FB account but rarely go there either.

I did post about my turkeys in another section all by myself :)

LOL! Only us fine feathered friends here. At least he didn't talk about chickens.

Here ya go Rick: I love movies and chatting about movies with other enthusiasts. I usually only post trailers in our Mountains of Entertainment forum for the ones that I have to see in the theatre, like this upcoming Minions movie: mymountaintown.com/forum/97-mountains-of...heaters-july-10-2015

But, there's more than just movies to talk about! Mentor just saw our thread about Kindle Book lending and commented on it this morning - anyone here have a Kindle who wouldn't mind "lending" books? I still haven't gotten the Divergent series for Li Science Dude, he's gone through the Eragon series, the Hunger Games books, and is now working on The Maze Runner series. If anyone has Divergent to lend, that would be awesome!

It would be fun to have a "Recently Read & Recommended" thread, or maybe sometime do an online chat during a big TV show like they do on Twitter (like the Academy Awards, we can totally diss on what they're wearing and interview answers). :P

Damn that ginger. If they move the game to an early start time and don't televise it, we could win it all!

Edit to add:
You can tell when someone's written on your Wall (you should get an email alert as well), when you see this message below your username when logged in and are on any page but the forums:

Speaking of messages, I've noticed that I don't get a notification of a private message even though I may have one. Is that only on the home page where it says I have a new message?
