The bishops are currently in Lima for the 20th annual United Nations climate summit, COP 20.

"We express an answer to what is considered God's appeal to take action on the urgent and damaging situation of global climate warming," they wrote.

They noted that they are especially motivated to combat climate change due to their work with the "most vulnerable communities," who are disproportionately affected by climate change.

Call me cynical, but nope, it sure won't. It's why I've not bothered to post about the subject lately; what's the point? The only thing that will silence those who continue to push the anti-climate change agenda, and get the public on-board with real actions that actually do something, are multiple extreme weather events that impact people personally and financially and cause our nation trillions more in debt cleaning up devastation after devastation. As with any slow-moving, impersonal disaster, most people are apathetic and unmotivated until it impacts them in a real way - just like so many in the mountains ignore mitigating their property until a Lower North Fork Fire or Hayman Fire happen. They can afford to ignore those who see the warning signs and sound the alarm because it's not visceral and real yet, and those who have a vested financial interest in staving off action have created enough doubt to continue the paralysis on government and public movement forward.

We as a species are still dim bulbs in a lot of ways. Too little big picture, long-term vision in our repertoire.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

I'm just waiting for the "axis shift" (which is in progress, as we "speak")WHEN it is complete(could be a
slow motion event OR an abrupt "flip") we will have purged the problem...(OH MY, one of "those" wacko's who see earth's history as a WHOLE)....it's a do-over.

In that case "don't worry be happy"! "Use it or loose it" as THEY say.

Gee,from my POV, the word 'ECOLOGY" has been around since the 60's/70's and not much concern...
the global community is a day late and a dollar short....it has PAST the tipping point and is now at critical mass. It is a sad fact that humans will NEVER pay attention until it is too late. NO,I'm not happy,I'm pissed...and I am so VERY glad that I don't have children, because THEY are the recipients of our stupidity/apathy/selfishness.

Maybe the kids of today can find a way to prevent the axis from shifting, plug all those pesky volcanoes, and control solar activity through common core learning.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
