How the Presidency Has Changed Over The Years

Stolen from Tara Ross on Facebook: John Adams visited DC after his inauguration today. He was the first POTUS to reside in DC, but since the White House was still unfinished, he choose to return to Boston after a couple weeks, promising to return in the fall after the heat and humidity had departed. Imagine a modern President taking months off.

That would probably be the best thing any modern president could have done.

Months off all at once or on the Goof course? I think our current POTUS has been asleep at the wheel more often than not. Of course when he's using his pen and phone to legislate and enact new laws he's on a mission.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Normally I would complain about taking so much time off, but then that is the only way we are protected when we have a dufus as President. Same for Congress. While many are dismayed by Congress and their lack of agreement, I rather like it as it means they aren't screwing things up.

It is amazing to see how much time in office they spend fundraising, even after they have been elected to a second term. 33% of their job? :camper:

Now that you mention this FH, what would it be like if Presidents weren't allowed to fundraise or pull for either party while President so that they could be more objective. Think it could ever happen?

Interesting idea. I like it! (And you have to think some POTUS's would love to have this as an excuse to no longer fundraise.)
