Colorado Republican Party at it again

The Colorado Republican Party has decided that Republicans in Colorado will not be allowed to participate in selecting the Republican presidential nominee. Go figure. At the local and state caucuses, Republicans will not declare their preference for president. So republicans, your state party does not trust you to pick a presidential candidate.

"Colorado will not vote for a Republican candidate for president at its 2016 caucus after party leaders approved a little-noticed shift that may diminish the state's clout in the most open nomination contest in the modern era.

The GOP executive committee has voted to cancel the traditional presidential preference poll after the national party changed its rules to require a state's delegates to support the candidate that wins the caucus vote.

The move makes Colorado the only state so far to forfeit a role in the early nomination process, according to political experts, but other caucus states are still considering how to adapt to the new rule.

"It takes Colorado completely off the map" in the primary season, said Ryan Call, a former state GOP chairman."

Bad move by the RINO's. Colorado used to have one of the most important state conventions and it was fun to participate in 2014, but this will encourage participants & delegates to not even bother attending. Plus this will also hurt fundraising. Tell the grassroots they will have little influence and they will be less likely to open their checkbook.

Maybe I should declare as a Democrat so I can vote against Hillary twice next year. :watermellon

It must suck to be told by the leaders of your party that you are too stupid to select your own presidential candidate. So the party powers must really be concerned that The Donald might actually win the nomination?

Just last year the party booted out Ryan Call and replaced him with Steve House. Then party leaders tried to get House to resign. Who needs the Democrats, the Colorado GOP is a circular firing squad.

Personally I think Colorado should fund a primary for both parties. It will encourage more political spending in the state.

So the Colorado state republican executive committee now claims that active participant by republicans in choosing their presidential nominee would be a bad thing.

"When you add in the straw poll during that [caucus] experience it inflates the number of people who come by a dramatic amount and all kinds of problems have ensued," House said. "And I think that's part of the reason why the county chairs on the executive committee especially were very opposed to doing it this way because they believe it will disrupt the overall process and won't gain us that much."

Read the editorial in the Post this morning too. House and his cohorts need to be replaced. Parties are supposed to encourage attendance and participation, not piss party members off.

No wonder Colorado continues to elect Democrat presidents, because the State GOP leadership are idiots.
