With the current unfavorables for both major party candidates, do you think the Libertarian and Green parties will combine to get 5% or more of the vote? Or will the discontented voters stay home? Or will the Bernie Bots and the Never Trumpers eventually be scared into voting for Trump and Clinton? Personally I think 5% is too high. I think most current dissenters will jump on their party bandwagons, and the rest will stay home. For me, it is a 50/50 bet whether I support Johnson or Trump.

FredHayek,
The problem that both the Libertarian Party and the Green Party face is, the fact that they are NOT on the ballot in every state.
Per Ballotopedia the Libertarian Party is on the ballot in 33 states and the Green Party in 21 states.
I will research how many state's ballots that Ross Perot was on. Perhaps someone can provide that statistic.
A third party candidate influences the outcome by taking away votes from someone who would be the second choice of that voter.

Many of the state's that the Greens and Libertarians cannot get on the ballot tend to be one party states like Oklahoma where they would have little chance of winning anyway.
